"Living at the Pace of Presence"

At this yoga, surfing & adventure retreat, Rolf Gates invites participants to step out of their daily routines and into a rhythm shaped by movement, breath, and the natural world. Mornings begin with grounding yoga and meditation practices that cultivate presence and clarity, followed by time in the ocean learning or deepening the art of surfing as a living expression of balance and responsiveness. Surfing instruction is included in the retreat price. Whether you are brand new or experienced, you will receive guided instruction and support throughout the week.

Afternoons offer space for rest, reflection, and community, allowing the nervous system to settle and the body to integrate the day’s experiences. Followed by a longer afternoon practice period of yoga and meditation. Through the synergy of these practices, participants experience a deepened sense of coherence, where body, breath, mind, and environment begin to move together with greater ease, confidence, and trust.

When: December 12th 2026 - December 19th 2026 (Saturday -Saturday)

Schedule: There will be a yoga and meditation session each morning, followed by breakfast. Then, the mid-morning session each day will be a choice between surfing with Yohan (included in the retreat price), optional hiking or other adventures (not included in retreat price); or simply relaxing and enjoying one of the most beautiful spots in the world. We will then come together for lunch, followed by our afternoon yoga and meditation session. We will then have dinner and an (optional) evening meditation.

Surfing: Yohan Mendez will be leading the surfing experience during the retreat. Surfing is an integral part of this retreat and is fully included in the cost. Participants will receive instruction tailored to their level, whether you are stepping onto a board for the first time or refining your skills. The experience is designed to be both accessible and deeply enjoyable. With a deep connection to the ocean and years of experience guiding students of all levels, Yohan creates a supportive and fun environment for learning, exploring, and building confidence in the water.

Travel & Logistics

Getting There: Nexus is located on Guiones beach in the town of Nosara on the Pacific Coast of Costa Rica. Address is K-36A Playa Guiones, Nosara, Guanacaste 50206. It is a two hour drive from Liberia International Airport (LIR) and a four hour drive from the capital city of San Jose (SJO).

We recommend flying into Liberia (LIR) and booking the two hour airport transfer on line at: terratournosara.com. Your driver will be holding a sign with your name as you emerge from baggage claim, and will deliver you directly to our doorstep. Your shuttle will have wifi.
