Kristen has a Bachelor's Degree from Michigan State University (2012) and a Master's Degree from UIndy (2018). She dabbled in the corporate world until 2020 when she completed her 200-hour, yin, and mindfulness trainings. Kristen landed at Cityoga in 2022, and was quickly brought on board as the studio manager and teacher. She later completed her 300-hour advanced training in 2024 with Rolf Gates at Cityoga. Kayla Chain

Studio Coordinator & RYT 200

Kayla was introduced to yoga at an early age and quickly found it to be a safe haven as she struggled to manage her anxiety throughout all life's ups and downs. After taking a yoga philosophy class she became passionate about integrating yoga in her daily life both on and off the mat. Through this integrated passion Kayla was able to find peace, better understanding and healing within herself. Healing led her to Cityoga’s yoga teacher training which she completed in the Spring of 2023. Kayla enjoys slower paced mindful movement and hopes to help others feel more connected to themselves and their community.

It is a level of presence she has never experienced before. In her class, students are guided in breathing and intention to cultivate openness and softness in every pose. Katarina understands that every body is unique, and that the same pose will look and feel differently for each student and therefore offers modifications and encourages curiosity in students to explore their unique range of motion.

Since then it has been a consistent thread in her life as she moved from New England to New York City to San Francisco to Indianapolis, and now in Fresno. Laura loves light and laughter and is by nature curious and open. She began her teaching journey with Dave Sims and Marsha Pappas at Cityoga in their fantastic 200-hr YTT. Since then she has received teacher training from David Swenson (Ashtanga), Swami Saradananda (Pranayama in the Sivananda Yoga tradition), and attended Ashtanga workshops with Kino MacGregor and Taylor Hunt as well as workshops in chair yoga, somatics, and myofascial release. She has participated in multiple workshops and trainings with Gary Kraftsow (Viniyoga) as well as Jivana Heyman and the Accessible Yoga School. She loves the sense of peace and presence that asana, pranayama, and meditation bring to her daily life; weaving their way through her photography, poetry, baking experiments, and life with her family and cat.

Liz Gibbons

RYT 200

Liz's yoga journey began as a way to gently reincorporate movement while recovering from a painful car accident. As she healed, her practice began to nourish her mental and spiritual health, a transformation
reaching far beyond the physical mobility she was regaining. Building upon this practice eventually led her to Rishikesh, India to complete her 200 hour teacher training through 7 Chakras Yoga School. There, she adopted yoga as a wholistic lifestyle where meditation, philosophy and connection to nature became just as important as asana. Liz hopes to convey this all-encompassing definition of yoga in her classes, nurturing a deeper connection to the self. Since beginning to teach in 2023, she has also completed Cityoga's 50 hour somatics and trauma informed teacher training. She maintains a regular somatic yoga practice and draws upon much of this knowledge to inform her classes. Above all, she's honored to create a space for students to heal and to have fun.

This training uncovered her love for yoga nidra (a form of guided meditation for deep rest) which she now teaches as well. So, whether you take a vinyasa, slow flow, restorative, or meditation class with Charlotte, expect to leave feeling more grounded, open, and connected to yourself.

Sam Graf

After only a few weeks, she began to feel relief from the pain from her accident. Samantha spent the next several years fine tuning her practice and researching 200hr trainings so she could begin to share this incredibly healing way of life with others. She stumbled upon a training program in the birthplace of yoga, Rishikesh, India. Her training consisted of both Hatha and Ashtanga yoga practices, meditation, pranayama and a deep dive into emotional blockages. Since, she has focused on providing her students with a vinyasa based practice with restorative components. She strives to create balance within her practice using breath and movement as well as providing a flow that feels natural for the body.

Through this class he began his studio journey and developed a love for the Cityoga community being influenced to pursue Yoga Teaching. He became certified in the fall of 2024 and began teaching a year later. His style of Vinyasa pairs aspects of Qi Gong (Chinese Meditative movement) to look closer at the process of moving energy throughout the body while focusing on the transition between Asana as opposed to just an ending posture. Leah Foster

CYT 200

It was amongst seasonal travels that Leah ended up in a by-donation yoga class at a community center in central Alaska in the summer of 2017. Within that singular hour, her first step out of a disembodied life was taken. She completed her 200 hour teacher training at Cityoga in 2022 and is now enthusiastically recovering from earlier life challenges and dependencies. Yoga was the catalyst of her desire to overcome, heal, and awaken. An eternal student and a lover of all things psychospiritual, weird, and mysterious, Leah’s practice remains most informed by meditation and movement teachers who keep it slow, simple, still, and kind; playing with shadow and challenge along the way. Leah believes a yoga practice should offer its students an invitation out of autopilot and back home beneath the skin.

Todd taught a regular Sunday morning power class at BMPY before relocating and still subs there occasionally. Now recently retired, Todd is exploring his best fit for teaching opportunities in the Indianapolis area. Melissa Hampshire

Desk Staff, E-RYT 500, PYT, YACEP

Melissa, E-RYT 200, RYT 300, YACEP, discovered Yoga about 20 years ago as a way to mindfully move with her own young children. After years as an athlete, staying active was a priority and something to model for a healthy lifestyle. After finding adult classes, Yoga became a way to destress from a career working with children with disabilities at the elementary school level. When Melissa delved deeper into the roots of the practice, she decided to study in a 200 hour program. Obtaining her 200 hr certification in 2013 was just the beginning of a life long journey. She has since obtained a certification from Love Your Brain to teach classes to individuals that have sustained a traumatic brain injury, completed a 300 hour Yoga teacher training, and is currently enrolled in a prenatal Yoga teacher training at Cityoga. Melissa has been teaching Yoga classes for over 11 years in various settings and has helped facilitate a Yoga Teacher Training for almost 9 years. After 46 years in central Ohio, Melissa and her husband relocated to Indianapolis in 2023 for his job. Melissa enjoys practicing Yoga and Pilates, weight training, hiking, disc golf, reading, cooking and baking, volunteering, traveling, and discovering new hobbies as recent empty nesters.

Aly Szymanski

RYT 200

Ali is an Indiana native, starting out in southern Indiana yet has worked her way up north to purchase and run a small permaculture farm. Ali loves making all kinds of art, but ceramics is her passion medium. Ali first found her way to her yoga mat in 2007, enjoying the fun yet challenging postures and sequencing in classes. It was not until her battle with breast cancer that she began to explore the healing properties that yoga can offer. After she regained control of her health, she felt passionately about helping others in a variety of capacities, especially when it came to yoga. So, she decided to pursue her 200-hour yoga teacher certification in 2016 in Costa Rica. Since then, she has continued her education to include Yin Yoga and Yoga for Cancer and Terminal Illness. Through Ali's journey she has learned to use yoga as a tool to help process, cope, and heal through the challenges in her life. Ali has been offering a variety of yoga and meditation practices for others since 2018. She enjoys sharing a practice consisting of deep breathing exercises (pranayama), various types of meditation, yin/restorative yoga, and the deep relaxation that comes from the crystal singing bowls.
