CY500 is an ongoing program that may be complete within three years of enrollment. The course includes fifteen weekends (required and elective) and individual sessions with a CITYOGA mentor. The mentorship aspect of the program allows students to explore deeper dimensions of their personal learning goals and creates a friendly accountability relationship.
500 hour Advanced Teacher Training
This course is taught by an outstanding staff of teachers and experts, with Marsha Pappas as primary facilitator and Dave Sims as program manager. Local and nationally recognized guest teachers Rolf Gates, Kino MacGregor, Laurie Searles, Manoj Chalam, Eve Earley DC, CST, RYT, Carol Tharp-perrin just to name a few will deliver portions of the training based on availability and subject matter.
Along with becoming a more skillful yoga teacher, you will examine how you "show up" as a teacher today versus how you want to grow, evolve, and "show up" as a teacher tomorrow. It is important to embody this work, so committing to your own daily practice will be a big part of this training experience.
Program Description:
"The Conversation Goes Deeper..." Advanced teacher training will delve deep into specific aspects of yoga as well as review the principles and skills learned in the 200 hour teacher training program.
We will focus on the following areas:
- Yoga philosophy and its practical applications for your daily life and teaching
- Effectively creating themes and language for classes by interweaving ancient yogic wisdom into subtle contemporary language
- Teaching special populations
- Finding your own unique voice, vision, and calling as a teacher
- Advanced asana, pranayama, kriyas, chanting, mantra, meditation techniques and methodologies
- Physical and Energy anatomy taught by experts in the field and practical applications
- Daily practice and journaling throughout training
- Advanced Vinyasa sequencing
- Ayurveda, nutrition, and much, much more.
We look forward to embarking on this journey with you!
Blessings, Marsha, Nikki and Dave
Through yoga, we learn to bring our attention to a particular area in our bodies, or in our lives, and keep it there - and the results are nothing short of miraculous. The only thing that seems certain is that we cannot imagine the power of a mind, a will, and a body refined by yoga. We must experience such transformation for ourselves."
